TBR View: Arsenal must consider Coutinho as Ozil replacement

According to , Barcelona are willing to let Philippe Coutinho go for a cut-price fee of £77 million this summer when his loan stay at Bayern Munich comes to an end. Several Premier League clubs, including the Brazilian’s former side Liverpool, are said to be interested in the playmaker.

The 27-year-old is a hugely talented player who has already proven his quality in the English top flight. However, he struggled to shine last season during his first full campaign at the Camp Nou. A return to the Premier League could help the No. 10 rediscover his best form.

Coutinho would slot into a number of top English sides, but Arsenal should currently be doing all they can to get a bid for Coutinho in place for the summer.

The Gunners need to move on Mesut Ozil this summer. The underperforming 31-year-old’s wages are a huge drain on the north London club’s resources. Getting rid of and replacing Ozil must be a priority for Mikel Arteta.

According to , Arsenal had the chance to sell Ozil on transfer deadline day in January. However, given this left them no chance to acquire a replacement, the club reluctantly rejected the offer. This will not be a problem in the summer if Arsenal can attract an early offer for Ozil, and Coutinho would be the perfect candidate to take up Ozil’s place at the Emirates Stadium.

With Ozil failing to shine, Arsenal have often struggled to 𝓀create chances this season. Coutinho would give Arteta’s side the boost of creativity it desperately needs. What’s more, Coutinho is still in his prim🐟e, and could impress for Arsenal for a number of years.
