TBR View: Arsenal could use Reiss Nelson to finally get Palace star Wilfried Zaha

Arsenal are cracking on with their summer recruitment it seems, with Edu working overtime to get deals over the line for Mikel Arteta.

Nuno Tavares has already arrived in North London. This week, the likes of Ben White and Albert Lokonga are expected to sign on the dotted line as well.

Beyond that, the Gunners’ spending is set to continue. A goalkeeper remains on the agenda, while a creative midfielder or forward could also arrive.

But as well as those coming in, there’s expected to be players who leave.

Players such as Lucas Torreira seem guaranteed to leave, while suggested that Crystal Palace are keen on Reiss Nelson.

And it is that interest in Nelson from Palace which could actually play into the Gunners’ hands in , Wilfried Zaha.

Zaha has once again been linked with a Selhurst Park exit this summer, with reporting Arsenal could make their move again.

Swap-deal?

With Palace interested in Nelson, there could well be a door open for Arsenal to test the water with Zaha again.

Nelson has just a year left on his contract, and so far, he’s been refusing to sign a new deal as he puts the feelers out over his future.

A move to Palace could be a good move for Nelson, in fairness. But Arsenal could also get their way too, by offering Nelson in return for Zaha.

For too long, Palace have demanded enormous money for Zaha. But there has to be a point he does move on, given he’s now 28. Really, the time is now for both Arsenal and Zaha if they want to join forces.

Naturally, Palace will still want good money for Zaha. But the idea of landing Nelson in return could soften the blow, and allow those at Selhurst Park to drop the asking-price to a reasonable figure.
