TalkSPORT pundit says Manchester United have made the ‘worst deal in the history of football’

TalkSPORT pundit Dean Saunders has branded Manchester United’s decision to sign Jadon Sancho as the ‘worst deal in the history of football’.

Erik ten Hag banished the Englishman from his squad in September after the two publicly had a go at each other. Sancho hasn’t had a look-in since, and Manchester United have a massive problem on their hands now.

Jadon Sancho to Manchester United labelled as ‘worst deal in the history of football’

Manchester United signed Jadon Sancho from Borussia Dortmund in a £73 million deal back in the summer of 2021 ().

The Englishman was one of the best players in Germany during his time there. He came to Old Trafford with a lot of hype, but for one reason or another, things haven’t worked out for him.

Sancho has 12 goals and six assists to his name in all competitions in 82 appearances for Manchester United over the last two-and-a-half years.

That is simply not good enough for a player who cost so much money, and now that he has fallen out with Erik ten Hag, Manchester United will have to accept a huge loss when they let him go.

Dean Saunders was speaking about Sancho on today, and he branded the transfer to bring him to Manchester United as the ‘worst deal in the history of football’.

He said: “I can’t get my head around this. Jadon Sancho, I will give you a quick tale about this. When he was at Dortmund, I watched him every week ripping full-backs to shreds, coming inside and bending balls in the stanchion, getting on the end of crosses, playing through balls.

“He signs for Man United on £75 million, reportedly on £300,000-a-week. He has played 80-odd games, scored seven or eight goals, hardly any assists, not produced the goods. It’s a mystery. He is nowhere near the England squad.

“You say fire in his belly but Man United, it’s got to be the worst deal in the history of football. Add his wages up – right now he is sat in his house playing on his PlayStation. He doesn’t even want to apologise and even if you don’t mean it, get back out on the football pitch and start playing football. The team and the club need you, put your difference with Ten Hag behind you.

“All he has said is he is not training well. Is he not allowed to say that, manager of Man United? You go on Twitter and slaughter the manager. Imagine Alex Ferguson, you would never have been seen at the football club again.

“They have lost £70 million, they will probably sell him for £30 million. So they have lost £45 million. His contract is up in 2027, so he is probably on £14 million a year. They are probably going to lose about £75 million on that deal. He needs to leave.”

Sancho has to leave Manchester United

Jadon Sancho has the talent to be one of the best players in the world.

He scored 50 goals and provided 64 assists in 137 games for Borussia Dortmund during his time there. He was unplayable at times, and what’s amazing is he did that when he was below the age of 21.

Sancho has had his problems at Manchester United and the situation has become irreparable. A move away in January is the best thing for all parties involved, and we expect it to happen.

It will be interesting to see where Sancho will end up next. We won’t be surprised at all if he becomes a star again at his new club.
