TalkSPORT pundit publicly tells Arsenal fans to ‘stop crying’ after Declan Rice incident

Declan Rice’s controversial red card against Brighton & Hove Albion has emerged as a big talking point as Arsenal dropped points for the first time in the new Premier League season.

During their 1-1 draw at the Emirates Stadium, the England international – who was previously booked – received his second yellow card of the game for tapping the ball away from Joel Veltman as he tried to take a quick free kick.

By the letter of the law, Rice caused an obstruction and received his marching orders as Arsenal pretty much played out the whole of the second half with ten men.

Gary Lineker wasn’t in favour of the decision to send off Rice, admitting that football has ‘lots its mind’ for such incidents to count as a second bookable offense.

However, Jason Cundy believes the contrary is true as he launched a scathing attack on the Arsenal fans for crying foul over Rice’s dismissal.

The Gunners faithful were livid on social media after the decision, with some of them even suggesting that there is an agenda against Arsenal.

When asked by Jamie O’Hara about what he thinks about such suggestions, Cundy responded in rather emphatic fashion.

“Honestly, stop crying,” Cundy said on talkSPORT.

“Sometimes, decisions go your way and sometimes they don’t. Some of the Arsenal fans I see on social media – grow up!

“They are pulling out incidents that happened years ago. There are a couple out there who are saying there is a conspiracy against Arsenal – crying and moaning about one decision that was actually the right call. Don’t kick the ball away!”

Who can replace Rice for the North London derby?

Rice will serve a one-match suspension after his red card against Brighton and is set to miss the North London derby against Tottenham Hotspur.

With Thomas Partey and Martin Odegaard occupying the other two midfield positions, Jorginho is the most straightforward option to replace the Englishman after the international break.

However, Charles Watts thinks Kai Havertz could replace Rice in midfield, with Leandro Trossard, Gabriel Martinelli and Bukayo Saka spearheading the attack.

With new signing Mikel Merino out with a shoulder injury, Arsenal aren’t really spoilt for choice in that position and it remains to be seen who deputises for Rice against Spurs.
