Takumi Minamino says Liverpool have a midfielder who’s even better than Ji-sung Park

Takumi Minamino believes Liverpool have a midfielder in their squad who is better than Manchester United icon Ji-sung Park.

It has been over 18 months since the Japan international left Liverpool for Monaco. He joined the Reds back in January 2020 from RB Salzburg but rarely started under Jurgen Klopp. However, he was a popular member of the squad.

Minamino, in his first six months at Liverpool, won the Premier League title. He then helped the Reds lift the FA Cup and Carabao Cup in 2022.

The versatile Japanese star left the Reds and joined Monaco after that for a fee of £15.4 million (). He has become a solid player for them there.

Takumi Minamino ranks Liverpool star higher than Ji-sung Park

Ji-sung Park is one of Manchester United‘s most underrated players of all time.

The South Korean was Sir Alex Ferguson’s trusted midfielder. He always did the job he was asked to and was a very consistent performer.

Park helped Manchester United win four Premier League titles, a Champions League, three League Cups and also two Community Shields.

Manchester United fans love Park even to this day, but former Liverpool midfielder Takumi MInamino thinks Wataru Endo is better than him.

The Japan international, in a video on , was asked to blind rank five Asian footballers. He placed Endo in third before putting Park at the bottom of his list, at fifth.

We’re sure Manchester United fans will disagree with this assessment.

Wataru Endo’s stats are very impressive

Many people felt Wataru Endo was a panic buy last summer when Liverpool signed him after missing out on Moises Caicedo and Romeo Lavia to Chelsea.

The Japan international wasn’t the young, hungry midfielder Reds fans were hoping for, so there were a lot of doubts when he was brought in.

However, Endo, who is really underrated, has slowly but surely proved his quality. He has been really good for the Reds recently, and his stats prove that.

In 12 starts in the Premier League this season, Endo averages 1.5 tackles, one clearance and a very impressive 3.5 ball recoveries per game. He’s yet to make an error leading to a goal and has made just one that has led to a shot ().

Endo may not be a flashy player who will set the stage on fire every week, but he is a really consistent performer and one who has become integral to this Liverpool side.
