Swedish media react to Viktor Gyokeres’ display after Arsenal linked striker scores two more goals
Amid all of the strikers Arsenal were linked with this summer, Sporting CP’s Viktor Gyokeres was often the name most craved by supporters in north London.
After leaving Coventry City and the Championship last summer, Gyokeres scored 43 goals in 50 games in Portugal – numbers which immediately caused Arsenal to take notice.
At 26-years-old, Gyokeres is arguably only going to 🏅get better over the coming years too, a striker who is as physically imposing as he is potent in front of goal.
ꦗAnyone with a theory that Gyokeres may simply have been enjoying a purple patch last season will probably 🌱have to swallow those thoughts too, given how the Swede has started the new campaign.
Gyokeres has now scored seven goals in fiveꦰ starts for 🎐his club thus far, and over the international break the striker has now added three more in his two outings.
Arsenal linked striker Viktor Gyokeres scores emphatic brace against Estonia
After scoring and assisting two goals in Sweden’s 3-1 win away to Azerbaijan last Thursday, Gyokeres now netted two more goals against Estonia o🧸n Sunday evening.
The was taken off 11 minutes b🐷efore the end of the🅘 game, but certainly didn’t waste his chance up front alongside Alexander Isak, who he outscored on this occasion.

Swedish outlet labelled Gyokeres a ‘constant threat’, sayi🧸ng he did his job well.
They wrote: “Sure, there could have been even more goals. But the fact remains that ಞhe isও again doing what he has to – goals. Constant threat.”
als🅰o provided their own rating of the striker’s display, praising Gyokeres for continuing to score even if he was facing wea💝k opposition.
They shar♎ed: “Continues to score goals. Scored both 1-0 and 3-0. At 1-0, he started the attack himself and then stayed in front on thꦜe return after [Ken] Sema’s finish.
“ꦜAt 3-0 he was served by [Dejan] Kulusevski after a beautiful attack. Good effort against weak opposition. Strong third.”
Gyokeres may be a sensible alternative to Isak for Arsenal
Of course, it’s interesting to note that it was Arsenal goalkeeper Karl Hein in net for Estonia trying to prevent the likes of Gyokeres and Isak scoring – a difficult task indeed🦄.
After not buying a striker this summer, Arsenal are planning a bid for Isak next summer, who they believe will join 🌟♔if Newcastle don’t qualify for Europe.
However, given his strong injury record and co𝓰nsistent scoring, might Gyokeres be a better option for the Gunners?
The Swede would certainly be more attainable, perhaps costing half the price New❀castle would demand for Isak.
However, there’s just something about Isak, something that ꦍlends to the Thierry Henry comparisons.
And although Isak should remain first choic🐓e for Edu and Mikel Arteta, Gyokeres would certainly not be a disappoint𓆏ment should he arrive.
