Swansea fans wowed by display from on-loan Aston Villa midfielder Conor Hourihane

On-loan Aston Villa star Conor Hourihane scored a decisive goal for Swansea City on Wednesday night – and some Swansea fans on Twitter celebrated his impact.

Hourihane, 29, was sent out on loan this month to Championship side Swansea for the rest of the season.

The left-footed central midfielder joined up with a team chasing promotion in the second-tier and they moved up to second in the league table after a 1-1 draw last night.

10-man Swansea were heading for defeat at the Liberty Stadium when Tariqe Fosu-Henry scored for Brentford to capitalise on Kyle Naughton’s red card.

But on-loan Villa ace Hourihane netted a free-kick in the 78th minute, which was floated in from the the right and missed everyone to sail into the net.

A selection of Swansea supporters on social media waxed lyrical about Republic of Ireland international Hourihane for his midweek contribution:

The central midfielder only made his debut for the club last weekend in the FA Cup and he’s now made a colossal impact on his first league appearance for them, with many expecting him to play a key role in their promotion charge.

He’s had experience with Villa of getting out of the Championship, which is why his know-how is a real bonus for the Welsh club.
