Report: Swansea City want Liverpool youngster Curtis Jones on loan

Swansea City are keen on a deal for Liverpool youngster Curtis Jones,

The Championship promotion hopefuls have made enquiries with regards to taking the Reds midfielder on loan.

Jones is the under-23 captain and has actually made three first-team appearances during the 2019/20 campaign.

The 18-year-old has been in decent goalscoring form for the under-23s. He has scored eight times and registered five assists from his 12 appearances.

Swans boss Steve Cooper is keen to bolster his squad and with finances tight he may have to settle for loan deals.

Jones could prove a shrewd addition to revive his team’s play-off push which has stalled in recent weeks.

The academy prospect typically operates on the left flank. He is quick, fearless and is capable of scoring goals.

Playing regular first-team football is the next step for Jones and Swansea could be the perfect club to give him that opportunity.

Jurgen Klopp utilised Jones in central midfield against Arsenal in the Carabao Cup. Liverpool won 10-9 on penalties and the youngster registered his first assist for the first-team.

More recently he came off the bench during a 3-0 win over Bournemouth for his Premier League debut.

TBR Verdict – Loan spell perfect for future star Jones

Getting some games under the belt of the Liverpool youngster will be ideal.

Jones has showcased during his four first-team outings that he can play. He must now prove that he can do it on a consistent basis at men’s level, however.

The teenager has the quality to go all the way to the top. Scoring goals and registering assists at youth level is one thing, but men’s football is completely different.

Moving to the Championship will be ideal. The division is unforgiving and if Swansea can give him regular football, the move makes perfect sense.
