‘Surprising’ Tottenham player has left Ange Postecoglou really impressed this pre-season

Tottenham Hotspur’s pre-season is now coming to a close with just one final game standing between them and their season opener.

The Lilywhites get their 2024/25 campaign underway in the Premier League with an away trip to Leicester City.

But next up for Tottenham is a friendly in front of their own fans against Bayern Munich on Saturday evening.

Ironically, Bayern were the last team which Ange Postecoglou‘s side played this summer last weekend in Seoul, South Korea.

Although Spurs lost that game, it has been a positive summer for the north Londoners who have seen some really impressive individual displays

And there is one player who is said to have really shocked the Australian boss and his coaching staff behind the scenes.

Tottenham player has really impressed Ange Postecoglou

All in all, it has been a positive summer for Spurs when it comes to the action on the pitch with Spurs winning four of their five friendlies.

However, in the window, there has been a lot left to be desired as Johan Lange now finds himself searching for signing number four just days before the season starts.

Dominic Solanke is a player Tottenham are in talks for but he would potentially set the Lilywhites back around £65m.

Although the club may be scrambling for more signings, there are some players which have really boosted their chances under Postecoglou this summer.

According to journalist Mike McGrath, Tottenham defender Djed Spence has really impressed behind the scenes this summer with his much improved attitude.

“Thrown into the mix is the fact that Djed Spence, you know, I suppose you could call it a somewhat surprising pre-season where he’s really impressed,” he said on the .

“I think some people were reporting that he had moved to, or was certainly on the brink of a move to a foreign club. He’s been playing, from what I’ve been told, his attitude has been spot on, and he’s actually now an option for Spurs.”

What Ange Postecoglou recently said about Djed Spence

Following one of the games in their pre-season tour of Asia, Postecoglou admitted that what the £20m Spence had showed him and his staff may have just saved him his career in north London.

“I think there’s an opportunity for him here, for sure. Thinking about building a squad, he would be definitely somebody who could [contribute] with the attributes he has,” said the 58-year-old.

Spence arrived back at Spurs this summer with his future up in the air.

Genoa’s CEO admitted there were clubs interested in Spence but the defender now looks set to play the role of backup to Pedro Porro at Spurs this season.

It really has been one of the surprises of the summer at Spurs.
