Surprise Leeds name boasts best pass-success rate in Premier League

Leeds United fans have not been given a lot to smile about in the opening stages of the new Premier League season.

But a handful of players have proved to be shining lights for the Whites as Marcelo Bielsa looks to turn their fortunes around as soon as possible.

And one of those who has really impressed the supporters so far is Jamie Shackleton.

The 21-year-old has only made one start in the top-flight this term. But the early signs suggest that he is set for a more prominent role this year.

He was seen by many as a game-changer in the draw with Burnley. And just as many felt that he was excellent at right-back against West Ham at the weekend.

And it would appear that the fans were correct to feel that he has stepped his game up a gear this term.

That is because Shackleton is the player who boasts the best pass-success rate in the Premier League, . The list includes all of the players who have more appearances than the total average.

Admittedly, he has played fewer games than those immediately below him. But he has still played a decent number of minutes so far.

He has found a teammate with 89 of his 91 passes. That is impressive given that he has played at right-back, right wing-back and in midfield already.

With Luke Ayling currently injured, Shackleton has an opportunity to prove that he deserves more game-time in the months ahead.

Obviously, his pass-completion numbers will not solely decide whether he keeps his place once Ayling is fit again.

But it does highlight how Shackleton definitely appears to have stepped his game up this season.
