‘Superstar in the making’: Some fans react after Celtic sign their ‘exceptionally talented’ player

Celtic have finally secured the signing of David Turnbull, a year after his move to Parkhead was called off.

On Thursday, the Hoops the arrival of the 21-year-old midfielder from Motherwell on a four-year deal.

Turnbull came through the ranks at Fir Park, making his debut back in February 2018.

He has since gone on to make 41 appearances for the club, scoring 16 goals in all competitions.

Celtic were meant to sign Turnbull a year ago, but a £3.25million deal to Parkhead fell through due to a knee concern spotted during his medical.

The midfielder then underwent months of rehabilitation following surgery, but was eased back into action in February.

Turnbull is now back to full fitness, with and a goal under his belt this term.

In March, Turnbull penned a contract extension at Motherwell until 2022, which chairman Jim McMahon has now described as “testament to his integrity and in doing so he secured the club’s interests as well as his own”.

Writing on the after the move was complete, he added: “As I’ve said above, as a fan, I regret to see him leave Fir Park.

“But the club can take pride knowing we have played a part in helping develop this exceptionally talented footballer and young man, whose legacy will endure for many years.”
