The reliable Italian journalist on X (previously known as Twitter): “🔵🇫🇷 Chelsea are super happy with the investment they made on Malo Gusto in January 2023. Fantastic business

There is no denying that Chelsea have wasted millions on some players, but there have been a few huge success stories in the market.

Gusto is one – and has even been tipped to become a future star – while the signing of Cole Palmer has also proven to be a masterstroke.

The England international is now valued at (£86m) by the CIES Football Observatory, while no player aged 21 or under has more goal involvements across Europe’s top five leagues – the Chelsea No.20 is level with Jude Bellingham on 19 goals and assists.

Axel Disasi is also starting to show his quality in west London, while Djordje Petrovic has done well to dislodge a far more senior goalkeeping rival in Robert Sanchez.

Hopefully, Chelsea can sign more players of this ilk during the summer.
