Sunderland could find their long-term Lewis Morgan replacement in Motherwell’s Jake Hastie
Sunderland were among the clubs with scouts in attendance to watch Motherwell starlet Jake Hastie recently, .
The teenage sensation has burst onto the scene for Motherwell after returning from a loan spell away.
Hastie was at Alloa for the first half of this campaign, netting three times in 23 games for the Scottish Championship side. But he has already improved on that tally for Motherwell.
Since returning, Hastie has five goals in just six games for Motherwell despite jumping up a division.
Unsurprisingly, Hastie is now attracting attention with Leeds United, Norwich City, Swansea City and West Bromwich Albion also keen on him.
But Sunderland could have an advantage in this pursuit: Jack Ross’ extensive knowledge of Scottish football.

He used that knowledge to bring in Lewis Morgan on loan from Celtic after the pair worked together to get St Mirren promoted to the top flight.
But when Morgan returns to Celtic at the end of his loan stint, Sunderland will need another winger to replace him.
Hastie could be the ideal option. The 19-year-old is a raw, fresh talent and Ross could help take his game to the next level.
He is far from the finished product but Hastie has the potential to become a first-team star at The Stadium of Light.
