Summerville lauds Darko Gyabi in reaction to his England performance

Crysencio Summerville has lauded Darko Gyabi following his performance on international duty for England under-19s, while he appears to have been compared with Yaya Toure.

Gyabi was one of the stars of the show as the Young Lions beat Denmark 4-2 on Tuesday. The Leeds United midfielder joined Sonny Perkins in getting on the scoresheet.

Meanwhile, Gyabi also captained the side against the Danes. His display further highlights what a coup it appears to have been for Leeds to sign the 18-year-old from Manchester City in the summer.

Gyabi is yet to get the chance to make his debut for the Whites’ first-team. But everything about his performances since he arrived suggests that he is going to very much be in Jesse Marsch’s plans before too long.

Gyabi has looked a class apart in some of his appearances for the under-21s. And Leeds probably do not have a huge amount of depth in the middle of the park.

As the squad gets stretched and the fixtures come thick and fast, the likes of Tyler Adams or Marc Roca may have to deal with knocks. And if that happens, Gyabi will be knocking on the door.

Based on his early showings, it would come as little surprise if Gyabi took his opportunity with both hands when the time comes.
