‘Summed him up’: Celtic star linked with Arsenal condemned after big game flop
If, as widely expected, Odsonne Edouard leaves Celtic in the summer, he may find his options have become limited.
That’s the view of Chris Sutton, who has been scathing in his comments on the Frenchman’s performance during Celtic’s third derby defeat of the season.
Edouard was so poor that gave him three out of 10 in their man-by-man ratings, with a missed penalty one of his numerous lowlights in Sunday’s 2-0 Scottish Cup fourth round defeat against Rangers.
The 24-year-old has been linked with a total of 27 clubs during his time in Glasgow, including .
Parkhead legend Sutton, however, believes any scout taking in the striker’s performance at the weekend will have been distinctly unimpressed.
In his column on page 3 of ‘Old Firm Winner’ pullout on Monday, Sutton said: “I gave Edouard the benefit of the doubt earlier in the season. I thought. he would get his head down and focus on this season after maybe wanting to leave after last year.
“But it’s almost like he’s simply not interested any more.
“If he wants to go, that’s fine. But where does he go?
“He must have something lined up already, because if you were a scout watching him on Sunday, you’re certainly not putting him forward for a top club in Europe.
“Edouard was a shadow of his former self at Ibrox. The Rangers defence used to fear him, but in this game they barely noticed him.
“He should have buried his big chance when Celtic were 2-0 down and his penalty was woeful.
“It just summed him up this season. It was all so half-hearted and future employers must be watching and sticking a question mark next to his attitude.”
Since arriving from PSG in 2017, Edouard has scored 72 goals in 135 appearances for Celtic.
