Stuart Webber admits he’s already spoken to Spurs about Oliver Skipp for next season
Norwich City sporting director, Stuart Webber, has admitted he’s already spoken to Spurs about keeping Oliver Skipp next season.
Skipp has been super impressive for the Canaries this season. The midfielder has helped them back to the Premier League at the first attempt, and now faces an anxious wait over his immediate future.
A lot will depend on who the new Spurs boss is, of course. However, previous manager Jose Mourinho was a big fan, and had previously described a performance from Skipp as ‘phenomenal’ when he was a teenager.
And speaking to the , Norwich supremo Webber has admitted he’s already spoken to both Skipp and Spurs regarding next season.
“I have spoken to Spurs already. I have obviously spoken to Oliver already. And his representative. We’d love to keep him,” Webber said.
“What’s key for us is we’ll always leave a place open for him, because his impact is huge. But I think there’s a few things which need to fall into place for that. I think it’s been a perfect loan from all sides. I think all three parties can genuinely sit there and go that was the case, other than the injury at the end which you cannot do much about. If we can continue that relationship, that would be great.”
Skipp played 45 Championship games for Daniel Farke’s men. He scored just the once, but his presence in the midfield was valuable in allowing the likes of Emi Buendia and Todd Cantwell to flourish.

Skipp could follow a similar path to that which Dean Henderson did with Sheffield United. He played in the Championship for the Blades before spending another year in the Premier League at Bramall Lane.
If Spurs can’t guarantee Skipp minutes, then a loan back to Norwich makes perfect sense. That’s what Canaries fans will be hoping for, anyway.
