Stuart Armstrong sends message to Arsenal’s Kieran Tierney, Celtic fans will love this

Stuart Armstrong helped Southampton secure a point at The Emirates on Saturday afternoon against an under-fire Arsenal side that included Kieran Tierney – and the former Celtic midfielder sent a message to the Hoops icon on Instagram.

Both Tierney and Armstrong started the match, coming up against eachother on the flank as the ex-Celtic teammates went to battle for three Premier League points. With both teams under-fire, it made for entertaining viewing – for the neutral.

Alexandre Lacazette cancelled out Danny Ings’ opener. It looked as though the pressure was going to increase on Unai Emery, but Lacazette again saved his manager’s blushes by equalising after James Ward-Prowse had put the Saints back in front.

Lacazette’s second came in injury time, but the Arsenal players were still met with a chorus of boos at the full-time whistle. The Gunners have now gone on a run of five Premier League games without a win, leaving them in seventh place.

Armstrong and Tierney were both crucial members of Brendan Rodgers’ first and second seasons at Parkhead. The duo combined as Rodgers pushed Celtic to trebles in both 2016-17 and 2017-18, before Armstrong left for Southampton.

Tierney left a season later and the ex-Celtic duo were reunited on Saturday afternoon in north London. Armstrong posted a message to Arsenal star Tierney on Instagram, uploading a picture of the midfielder on the receiving end of a heavy tackle.
