String of results underline power of Anfield for Liverpool
Anfield played host to another magical European night for Liverpool as the Reds progressed to the last 16 of the Champions League on Tuesday evening when they .
Despite creating a string of chances throughout the game, one goal was enough to settle things for Liverpool, although Alisson Becker was called into action to make a fantastic save in added time to ensure the clean sheet.
Prior to the game, Jurgen Klopp , stating: “The crowd can be really emotional from the first second. If something special is possible, it’s here.”

The crowd certainly played their part, rocking the stands with cheers for the Reds and jeers for the opposition at every opportunity.
Klopp may have been onto something in requesting the help of his supporters too, as Napoli became another confident team to fall at the hands of the famous atmosphere.
Heading into the game, Belgian forward Dries Mertens downplayed the intimidation factor of Anfield, saying: “I’m looking at this small thing and asking, ‘Is this so special?’”
Mertens made very little impact on the game after being on the end of a strong tackle from Virgil Van Dijk early on, and he became another star forced to eat his words when putting down Anfield’s impact.
Hoffenheim boss Julian Nagelsmann his team were not “in awe” of Liverpool heading into their trip to Merseyside, where they were comfortably beaten 4-2.
Spartak Moscow boss Massimo Carrera that his side “don’t fear Anfield”, before being routed 7-0 by Liverpool.
In April, he did not believe the Anfield atmosphere would cause Manchester City an issue. Liverpool defeated his side 3-0.
And, as recently as September, Paris Saint Germain’s Liverpool would miss out on the top four altogether this season, before they dismantled the French champions 3-2.
Since Klopp’s arrival, and it appears the magical aura of Anfield can stun even the best of opposition.
