Striker who almost signed for Newcastle ‘number of’ years ago is now worth over £85m and could make club history

One of the strikers who came close to signing for Newcastle United back in 2022 is now being valued in excess of £85 million by his current club.

But Newcastle United still made the right choice, as during the same transfer window, the Magpies completed the signing of Alexander Isak from Real Sociedad for around £63 million.

Their former target is now widely wanted around Europe, and his current club believe his sale could make history for them.

Frankfurt now value Hugo Ekitike at £86.8m

Eintracht Frankfurt now believe Hugo Ekitike could become the first player in their history to be worth 100 million euros, according to .

Arsenal and Liverpool were in attendance at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, where they saw him score the opening goal against Spurs in the Europa League.

Newcastle United has been linked with Etitike since January 2022, although they instead opted for Aexander Isak which hasn’t turned out too badly for them.

Back then, Ekitike admitted he was open to joining Newcastle, however, he could not turn down a move to French giants Paris Saint-Germain.

Eventually, Etitike signed for PSG for £26 million in a move which didn’t quite work out for him, but now, playing in the Bundesliga, the striker is now almost triple that value.

Arsenal and Liverpool are both keen on Etitike and the striker now looked destined to move to England in the summer.

Hugo Ekitike’s incredible stats this season for Frankfurt

The 22-year-old took his tally to 21 goals for the season last week as he scored against Tottenham and then Heidenheim in the Bundesliga.
