‘Strange’: Some Crystal Palace fans react to ‘odd’ news coming from Bournemouth

Crystal Palace fans have taken to Twitter to react after Bournemouth the signing of Gary Cahill on a free transfer.
What’s the story?
Well, the 35-year-old was a free agent after his contract with Crystal Palace expired at the end of last season.
Now, the England international has taken a step down into the Championship for his next adventure.
Cahill made his decision despite supposed interest from Steven Gerrard’s Rangers.
Have Crystal Palace made a mistake?

Given his wealth of experience, you could argue that Crystal Palace were wrong to let Cahill go.
Patrick Vieira is overseeing a youthful overhaul, with 21-year-old Marc Guéhi arriving as Cahill’s replacement.
There are many more youngsters in Vieira’s squad, and it helps to have experienced figures around the club to help guide them.
In that respect, you could say it was unwise to let a man with Premier League appearances leave the club.

Having said that, if Cahill’s demands were too high, there was no point in breaking the salary structure to re-sign him.
The Eagles desperately needed to trim the average age of their squad, and that’s only possible by letting older players go.
Let’s see what the Crystal Palace fans have been saying about Bournemouth’s announcement of Cahill…
Odd this. Would rather play in the Championship just for a bit of extra ££ then play in the Prem.

No I think he would just rather play that's the main thing as he's not getting any younger and at palace he's not guaranteed that with the new centre backs the style of play they suit it better

Strange, was waiting for rangers to come in and never did 🤣

Guess he’s at the perfect place to retire

Tbh at 36 id rather try and win another trophy and earn more money than be 3rd choice in a mid table prem side.
