‘Strange’… Barry Ferguson can’t believe what Brendan Rodgers is doing with 23-year-old Celtic player
The story of Gustaf Lagerbielke at Celtic has been one of the weirdest ones at the club this season.
After landing a dream £3m move from Elfsborg in the summer, the Swedish Defender of the Year has apparently been told that he no longer has a future at the club after less than six months.
And it’s a story that has left Barry Ferguson absolutely perplexed. The former Rangers captain was asked if he was Lagerbielke would be be looking for the first flight out of Glasgow, Ferguson advised against that.
Ferguson said [], “I don’t think I would go straight to the airport first I would chap the manager’s door and get the reasons and see why I wasn’t given an opportunity or even why I wasn’t on the bench.
“It was a strange one when I seen it but listen, Brendan Rodgers will have his reasons. There’s no doubt about it.”
Lagerbielke is apparently not rated by people within Celtic which is quite bizarre. The fact that verdict has been made after the recruitment department identified him as a player who was worth paying £3m for should really concern the Celtic fans.

The 23-year-old has recently admitted that he doesn’t understand why he has been dropped from the side, especially when he played fairly well at the start of the season against Livingston and Dundee at Celtic Park.
The future of Lagerbielke certainly looks bleak at Celtic. Will the club recoup the £3m they felt was worth paying in the summer? I highly doubt it.
But one thing is for sure, the Swede will be on his way out of Glasgow and it will be sooner rather than later.
