BBC Sport pundit Steven Thompson has lavished praise on Rangers midfielder Steven Davis, calling him the best midfielder in Scotland.
The former Rangers star told that the man just six years his junior is better than anyone else in Scotland at what he does.
He : “Steve Davis for me now is the best midfielder in the country. I don’t think 34 in modern football is too big an age. His passing and his ball retention are just absolutely sublime.
“He’s running midfield games for Rangers on a weekly basis. For me, he is the best in the country in midfield, at this moment in time.”

TBR’s View – Much will depend on how Davis’ ageing legs cope with a demanding season
Davis has made a strong start to the campaign but it’s a long, hard season for a 34-year-old so can he play every week? And if he can, can he keep hitting the heights which have got Thompson raving about him?
The answer to those questions will play a major part in shaping Rangers’ season. Whether he is the best midfielder in Scotland is subjective and perhaps some Celtic players might have something to say about it.
What’s more important is that it’s Davis with some silverware in his hands come the end of the campaign. If he can keep going like this, Rangers will have a greater chance of bringing trophies back to Ibrox.
