Steven Gerrard singles Rangers midfielder out for praise after superb training session
Glasgow Rangers boss Steven Gerrard has provided a positive update on the fitness of Ibrox midfielder Scott Arfield.
The 32-year-old has been out of action since Boxing Day, when he limped off after coming on as a substitute against Hibs, and has been absent ever since.
It was a big blow for Rangers to be without Arfield’s services for a lengthy period of time given how impressive he’s been this season.

However, speaking ahead of Saturday’s Scottish Premiership meeting with Kilmarnock at Ibrox, Gerrard revealed that the Canadian was back in training on Thursday and Friday.
The Gers boss praised him for looking really positive in training and suggested he may even have a chance of making Saturday’s game, pending a late fitness test.
“Scott Arfield trained with the squad for the first time on Thursday and he trained again on Friday,” Gerrard is quoted by as saying.
“We’ll make a late decision on him but he has missed seven weeks,
“But he came back and was great to watch, he brought real enthusiasm and personality to the session.
“It’s great to see him back smiling and really being close to being ready to go so that’s a big boost for us.”
TBR View:
Arfield has been superb for Rangers this season, his runs from deep and across the opposition defence, not to mention his vision and his engine, giving Gerrard and the squad something they had been lacking.
Hewas on the fringes of the Rangers first team at the start of the season, mostly coming on as a substitute, but worked his way into regular contention, so it’s great to hear that he’s back in training and potentially not far off a return to first-team action.
