Steven Gerrard shares what Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has text him, after taking the Aston Villa job

Steven Gerrard has told his first Aston Villa press conference –what Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has text him following his arrival.

Gerrard, 41, was announced as Villa manager last Thursday and is now just a couple of days away from his first challenge Brighton on Saturday.

He has been working hard with the Villa players that remained at the club during the international break as he looks to get his ideas across soon.

Gerrard has signed a contract until June 2025 and of course, the Liverpool legend will be desperate to one day manage the club he adores.

But for now and the foreseeable future, he has joined Villa. In his first presser, he told reporters what Klopp had sent him via text.

“I’ve been in touch with Klopp, I bump into him when he walks his dogs.
He sent me a message saying he is ‘looking forward to a big hug on the sidewhen Villa play Liverpool next month,

Gerrard press conference: When could Villa boss replace Klopp at Liverpool?

Gerrard does not strike people as a person that would drop a project with the job half done. At Rangers, he was tasked with stopping Celtic.

He did that, pipping them to 10 in a row at Celtic last season. They went unbeaten that season and now, Gerrard is undergoing the Villa project.

One that takes them from a relegation candidate into European football where the club belongs, given it’s size. Klopp, is going nowhere.

The German looks settled and has a contract until 2024. The chances of him staying at Liverpool beyond that remain strong.

Only until Klopp leaves and the project at Villa is done, will Gerrard go. Could he replace Klopp? Only if he shines at Villa.
