Steven Gerrard praises consistency of Rangers defender Connor Goldson

Rangers boss Steven Gerrard has hailed the importance of defender Connor Goldson on his side.

The 27-year-old has been an ever-present in the Gers backline this season and is a real vocal leader in the defence.

He’s played in 41 games across all competitions so far this campaign and managed to chip in with a decent return of four goals.

Goldson is now only five games short of 100 appearances for the Light Blues and he only made his move to Inbox in the 2018 summer transfer window from Brighton.

The English centre-back is clearly someone who is trusted by his manager Gerrard and he has expressed his joy with how he’s been performing this season.

“I think Connor [Goldson] has been extremely consistent, he hasn’t missed a training session is very robust and you can always trust him. Delighted with his form and hope it continues throughout the season,”

TBR’s View:

Goldson is surely one of the first names on the Rangers team sheet when it comes to Gerrard selecting his XI and he usually never lets them down.

He’s part of a familiar backline with Borna Barisic and James Tavernier the outstanding full-back pairing, but the only alteration usually comes alongside him at centre-back.

Nikola Katic, Filip Helander and  George Edmundson have all partnered Goldson at different points in the season.

But Goldson has been the man in the heart of defence that Gerrard has stood by and it looks like he will continue in that role moving forward.
