Rangers boss Steven Gerrard has waxed lyrical about his midfielder Steven Davis and feels he’s playing a key role now he’s up to full speed.
The 34-year-old returned to Ibrox for a second stint when he joined on loan from Southampton in January, something which has now been turned into a permanent switch.
He’s made just 16 appearances across all competitions for the Gers this year and has struggled at times to cement his spot int he XI.
But Gerrard has explained he’s now thrilled by the central midfielder’s form ahead of the Old Firm clash at the weekend against newly crowned champions Celtic.
“Steven Davis has been excellent. Now he is 100 per-cent fit, you can see him running games,”

TBR’s View:
Davis has in glimpses shown that he still has the quality to contribute at Ibrox and helps control the ball in the centre of the park.
He’s extended his stay with the Light Blues for next season and provides healthy competition in midfield.
The Northern Ireland international is clearly now edging towards the back end of his career, but could be a useful player in the squad moving into next year.
Gerrard needs to try mount a serious title challenge if he can next season and needs plenty of experience in the team to do so.
