Steven Gerrard expects striker Kyle Lafferty’s Rangers exit to be done within the next 24 hours,
The Northern Ireland international’s return to Ibrox has been a bust since he came back last summer and he has found himself behind Alfredo Morelos and Jermain Defoe in the pecking order.
And a deal to take him away from Rangers is very close, and should be finalised within the next day, according to Gerrard.
Lafferty was left off the club’s pre-season tour and charged with finding himself a new team – something which it looks as if he has been able to do.

Gerrard was patient and determined to get Lafferty off Hearts last summer, during his first transfer window in charge of the Gers.
He was likely seen as an alternative to Morelos, but he never really established himself again at Ibrox and was forced into a bit-part role.
Lafferty’s personality doesn’t really make him suited to being a backup – he shines when he’s the main man and indulged but was unable to adapt to be a success in his second spell with the club.
It’s best for all parties that Lafferty goes and tries to get some regular gametime, because he is in the twilight of his career and needs to be playing.
