Steven Gerrard can’t wait to unleash one Rangers player against Celtic, he’ll have ‘the bit between his teeth’

Glasgow Rangers boss Steven Gerrard has stated that Alfredo Morelos will have the “bit between his teeth” when Celtic come to Ibrox on Sunday.

The Gers striker finally broke his Old Firm scoring duck last time the two Glasgow rivals faced off in March.

In the game at Parkhead, Mohamed Elyounoussi opened the scoring for the hosts, but Morelos equalised to ensure a share of the spoils.

With the Scottish Premiership title heading to Ibrox, attention now turns to the Scottish Cup, with the two bitter rivals facing off in the last 16 of the competition.

The Gers will be hoping to seal a domestic double, while the Hoops will be eager not to finish a dismal season empty-handed.

Although Morelos might have not been as prolific as in previous seasons, he’s netted in big games including in Europe against Lech Poznan, Benfica and Royal Antwerp.

And Gerrard is positive that, with an Old Firm goal to his name, the Colombia international will want more and will work hard to achieve this.

“He’ll definitely have the bit between his teeth,” the Gers boss is quoted by as saying. “That goes without saying.

“Anyone who knows Alfredo and working with him close, that’s one thing you can never judge him on.

“When he puts a kit on and crosses the white line he’s always game. He’s always up for it.

“He always gives it his best. It was big for him from a personal point of view to get that goal because a lot of people were speaking about that.

“He’s got the belief and confidence from myself, the players and the staff. We know what he can do.”
