Steven Davis sends two-word Instagram message to Rangers player after win

Joe Aribo stole the show on Sunday as he scored a brilliant goal and was unlucky not to get himself on the score sheet twice, as Rangers beat Dundee United 4-1 at Ibrox – and Steven Davis has a two-word verdict on the Nigerian.

Aribo, 24, has shown in glimpses that he is capable of starring for Rangers this season – having a hand in 11 goals during his 29 league and cup appearances. He has scored seven times, twice in the past few days.

He was on hand to nab a goal during the 4-3 win over Belgian side Royal Antwerp during the first leg of Rangers’ Europa League clash – before netting a second against Dundee United. His was pick of the five goals at Ibrox.

Picking the ball up on the left of the penalty area, Nigeria international Aribo hammered a shot into the far top corner – having already had a shot that was turned by Ianis Hagi for the opener. He posted on Instagram.

The former Charlton Athletic midfielder has surpassed expectation since his move north of the border, perhaps thriving under the guidance of Steven Gerrard – one of the best players ever to have played in his position.

Another legendary midfielder, in teammate Davis, responded to his post by commenting on his “twinkle toes” while Kris Boyd also applauded his goal – messaging Aribo “what a strike”.
