Steven Caulker and Bernard send Instagram messages to Everton star after latest post

Gylfi Sigurdsson produced a match-winning performance on Wednesday night as Everton knocked Tottenham out of the FA Cup after extra-time in a bizarre match that ended 5-4 – and both Bernard and Steven Caulker have responded to his post.

Everton have since drawn Manchester City in the last eight of the FA Cup after beating Spurs, as they came from 1-0 down to beat Jose Mourinho’s side and take advantage of Tottenham’s defensive mistakes. Sigurdsson was on fire.

The Iceland ace scored from the penalty spot, but also laid on three assists for Carlo Ancelotti’s side. Dom Calvert-Lewin, Bernard and a brace from Richarlison beat Spurs, who scored through Harry Kane, Erik Lamela and a Davinson Sanchez brace.

The former Swansea and Tottenham man was in sparkling form after Ancelotti gave him the chance to shine from the number 10 role and it clearly paid dividends for the 31-year-old. The five-goal Everton ace posted on Instagram after the win.

Since the arrival of James Rodriguez, Sigurdsson has been pushed back into central midfield away from his natural 10 position but with James missing – Sigurdsson thrived and has now given Ancelotti a selection headache going forward.

Indeed, Sigurdsson impressed many including teammate Bernard – who scored the winner after Sigurdsson chipped the ball over the Spurs defence to find the ex-Shakhtar Donetsk ace. Ex-Liverpool defender Caulker gave his verdict on that assist.
