Stephen Warnock namechecks Origi, Brewster and Shaqiri as key this season
Former Liverpool defender Stephen Warnock has warned that Jurgen Klopp’s first-choice front three will not be able to carry the burden of a trophy chase all alone this season.
Warnock has called on Divock Origi, Xherdan Shaqiri and Rhian Brewster to be ready to shine this term, because rotation will be key.
He : “Jurgen probably knows that it is going to be a big ask, being in seven competitions. He knows the players are going to need a rest. He’s spoken openly about finding time during the season to give Mane, Salah and Firmino more rest.
“That is where the other players, Origi, Shaqiri, Brewster, they’re going to have to play at some point. You’ve got to have them ready for the big games. He needs them.”

TBR’s View – Plenty of pressure on cut-price trio
Liverpool have spent big on other areas of their squad but not on backup forwards. Brewster is an academy graduate, Origi cost £10 million (), while Shaqiri had a £12 million () release clause at Stoke.
That means that there aren’t big name players sitting out often – like Riyad Mahrez and Leroy Sane at Manchester City – but it also puts pressure on them to pull through at the right times.
Shaqiri and Origi played outstandingly in the 4-0 demolition of Barcelona last season, and Klopp is likely to need similarly decisive contributions from his fringe forwards this time around as well.
