‘I don’t understand’: BBC pundit baffled by what he’s heard Leeds fans saying after Bielsa’s sacking

Leeds and Marcelo Bielsa parted ways this weekend as one of Premier League football’s biggest love stories came to an end following a heavy defeat to Tottenham.

Bielsa is loved at Elland Road and has been key in helping Leeds back to the Premier League. His ‘Bielsa-Ball’ football has won the hearts of all Whites fans, and he will be remembered as a legend of the club. Rightfully so, too.

However, as with all big manager changes, there has been plenty of talk and opinion offered up on the matter. And among those to chip in on the discussion was former Leeds defender, Stephen Warnock.

Speaking to the , Warnock has been offering up his thoughts on the Bielsa decision and while he believes Leeds owe a lot to Bielsa, ultimately, he feels the club has had to make a business decision for the betterment of Leeds United.

“For the fans he’s taken them to the Championship, it’s been years in the making to get them to that level,” Warnock .

“You see fans saying ‘well I’d rather go down to the Championship watching this football’. I don’t understand that at all.
This is business decision now, there is people’s jobs on the line at the end of the day. If they go down bills have to be paid and Leeds are a massive club.”

Warnock, of course, knows the club well. He made more than 60 appearances for the club between 2013 and 2015.

The Whites are expected to appoint Jesse Marsh as Bielsa’s replacement. A deal could even be announced this week.
