Stephen Craigan lauds Rangers midfielder Steven Davis

Stephen Craigan has lauded Steven Davis during the latter stages of , suggesting that the Northern Ireland international was majestic at Hampden Park.

Steven Gerrard has reached his first final as Gers boss after his side thrashed Hearts on Sunday. Filip Helander broke the deadlock just before the break, and Alfredo Morelos bagged a second-half brace to set up an Old Firm final next month.

Rangers rarely looked like they were in any danger of suffering another semi-final defeat. And Craigan suggested as the final whistle approached that Davis had produced a masterclass in the middle of the park.

“You have to say again, Steven Davis today has just been majestic in midfield,” . “He controls the game, his passing range, his ability to just slow the game down to his tempo.

“Absolutely terrific. Steven Gerrard said age is no barrier, as long as you’re performing, you can play in his team.”

As Craigan referenced, Gerrard has suggested that he wants Davis to sign a new deal at Ibrox (via ).

It would appear to be a fantastic piece of business to tie Davis down for longer. Despite making a lacklustre start upon his return to Rangers this year, he has become a massively important player once again.

And given how consistent he has been, there appears to be no reason why the 34-year-old cannot continue to be a key man for some time yet.
