Stellini lauds Sarr, Gil and Skipp after Tottenham’s FA Cup win
Tottenham Hotspur assistant boss Cristian Stellini has heaped praise on Oliver Skipp, Bryan Gil and Pape Matar Sarr after Spurs beat Portsmouth to reach the FA Cup fourth round on Saturday – in comments reported by .
Spurs overcame the League One side with Harry Kane moving one step closer to history with his superb strike five minutes into the second-half.

The scoreline hints that there was some tension in the tie. However, Tottenham largely breezed through with Fraser Forster having very little to do in the Spurs goal.
Stellini praises Sarr, Skipp and Gil
The game presented a few of the fringe players with an opportunity to impress. And it seems that the Tottenham staff felt that three youngsters really took their chances.

Sarr was excellent in the middle of the park. Meanwhile, Gil took another step towards proving his doubters wrong. And Skipp’s display was simply a reminder of what he can do rather than a show of anything Tottenham fans did not already know.
Stellini – who was standing in for Conte – was asked which of the young players impressed him most. And clearly, he felt that he could not separate the trio.
“Not one player in particular because young players, Skippy and Pape, they are so important in our rotation, because last season and the start of this season we used Rodrigo and Pierre a lot and we need reliable players,” he said, as reported by .
“Also if they’re young it’s important that we give minutes and rotation and it’s a different choice. They were so good today, they moved a lot, they move the ball and I think Pape Sarr, Skippy and Gil they were all so good today.”
Skipp has been a first-team player for some time. And he looks very comfortable at the highest level. He has simply been unlucky with injury and the fact that Rodrigo Bentancur and Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg have been so impressive.
But this month could certainly be looked back upon as a turning point for both Sarr and Gil. They have both staked their claim for more game-time under Antonio Conte.
There had probably been an expectation that the two may leave on loan this month. But it is now hard to see either being anywhere else during the second-half of the season.
