‘Staying with us’: President takes hard-line stance on Leeds-linked £33m midfielder
Reported Leeds United target Nahitan Nandez is not leaving Cagliari this summer, club president Tommaso Giulini has told .
A report from Argentine outlet in August claimed that the 24-year-old midfielder was on Marcelo Bielsa’s radar, while recent reports have also linked him with Napoli.
Nandez, a 31-cap Uruguay international who shone at the 2018 World Cup, previously played for Boca Juniors, making 63 appearances for the Argentine giants.

In 2019, he made the move to Italy, joining Cagliari for a reported and clocking up 38 competitive appearances for the Sardinians so far.
Judging by Giulini’s comments to , however, Nandez – – will not cease to add to his Cagliari appearance tally just yet.
“I can deny the stories that Nahitan Nandez could go to Napoli in exchange for Adam Ounas,”said Giulini. “Nandez is staying with us, we haven’t offered him to anyone.”

Leeds have been linked with several midfielders over the past few weeks, with the likes of Rodrigo De Paul, Florentino Luis and Sergej Milinkovic-Savic all said to be on the Elland Road radar.
While Nandez has shone for Cagliari, the ball is very much in their court when it comes to his signature, given he’s only been there a year and his contract runs for another four.
Admittedly, a club with enough financial muscle could certainly test Cagliari’s resolve over their .
However, with the football industry dealt a blow in wake of current events, not only will clubs look to spend less, but others may be more willing to cash in on their assets, so the likes of Leeds will most likely look elsewhere.
