‘Star’, ‘leading the way’: Some fans think Liverpool have a truly ‘amazing’ player in their ranks

Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson has reportedly called a meeting with the 19 other Premier League captains to discuss the European Super League.

The Reds are one of 12 European clubs – of which six are in the Premier League – that have signed up to the breakaway competition.

The proposal involves the clubs forming their own competition to rival the UEFA Champions League, and it has been widely criticised by many pundits, clubs and fans.

Arsenal, Chelsea, Manchester City, Manchester United and Tottenham complete the English six-club contingent.

In terms of continental European clubs, the six Premier League clubs are set to be joined by AC Milan, Atletico Madrid, Barcelona, Inter Milan, Juventus and Real Madrid.

And according to the , Henderson is set to lead the players’ response to the controversial plans.

On Monday, Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp stated that neither him nor the players had been consulted over the Super League plans.

James Milner, who captained the Reds against Leeds in Henderson’s absence, also expressed his worry about the plans, saying “I don’t like it and hopefully it doesn’t happen.”
