‘Star boy’: Some fans wowed as Arsenal loanee helps team claim their ‘best victory of the year’

A number of Arsenal fans and Hertha Berlin supporters have been praising Gunners loanee Matteo Guendouzi for his latest display.

The 21-year-old is spending the 2020-21 campaign with the Bundesliga side after falling out of favour with Mikel Arteta last year.

Guendouzi joined Arsenal in 2018 from French outfit Lorient, the Gunners reportedly paying £7million for his services, and has made 82 appearances in red and white.

However, he was frozen out at the Emirates Stadium in wake of an incident with Brighton striker Neal Maupay towards the end of their Premier League clash in June.

To date, Guendouzi has made 20 appearances for Hertha – all in the league – scoring twice and assisting twice.

On Sunday, Hertha ran out 3-0 winners over Bayer Leverkusen, and Guendouzi provided an assist for Jhon Cordoba to claim the third goal of the match.

The Frenchman took to Twitter with a post-match message and fans of Arsenal and Hertha both praised his efforts:

Hertha moved up three places to 14th on 24 points from 26 games, one more than 16th-placed Koln who occupy the relegation playoff spot and two ahead of 17th-placed Arminia Bielefeld.
