Stan Collymore reacts to reports linking Arsenal with Diego Costa

Stan Collymore that Arsenal should steer clear of Diego Costa amid reports that the Gunners want the striker.

Costa has been linked with a raft of clubs following his recent departure from Atletico Madrid. And Mikel Arteta’s men are one of the teams to have been credited with an interest in the 32-year-old.

that Arsenal are monitoring Costa. It would be a controversial move to say the least.

Costa has previously enjoyed success in the Premier League. But he is also a player who has been criticised for his conduct throughout his career. And his return to Atletico did not play out how he would have liked.

And following the links, Collymore insisted that Arsenal need to look elsewhere before suggesting where he should go.

“The Arsenal fans saying Diego Costa would be a good signing for them are the same ones who would have backed Granit Xhaka to be a success at the Emirates,” .

“Costa could add some much-needed aggression, but he can be a liability of gargantuan proportions as well. Wolves would be a much better fit for the former Chelsea striker if he were to return to the Premier League.”

As things stand, it is difficult to see Arsenal making a move for Costa. They won their first league game since early November a couple of days before the report emerged.

The Gunners have since won their following two games. A number of their players are looking a lot more impressive, including Alexandre Lacazette.

Arsenal have less need to take a gamble on Costa. Their younger players have inspired those around them. And it would potentially send out a disappointing message if they decided to take a risk on another ageing target.
