
Stan Collymore that he has changed his mind and now believes that Marcelo Gallardo is the perfect candidate for the Everton job.
The Toffees are continuing their search for Marco Silva’s successor. Duncan Ferguson has certainly taken some of the pressure off the club’s hierarchy by overseeing a win against Chelsea and a draw with Manchester United.

Their form under the interim boss should enable the Everton decision-makers to not rush into an appointment.
And having previously suggested that Bournemouth’s Eddie Howe would be perfect for the position, Collymore suggested that he would now consider another candidate to be ideal – even if it does not look like they are going to get the gig.

“I had a gut feeling for Eddie Howe at Everton when Marco Silva’s position really came under threat, but I’ve changed my mind on that now,” .
“That’s because Gallardo fits the bill perfectly for Goodison Park – he has won trophies in Argentina, he’s a former international and he clearly understands players.
“Instead, Everton look like they’re closing in on Carlo Ancelotti and, while he ticks all the boxes that appeal to owners and fans in terms of experience, I’m not so sure he’s the right man beyond the end of this season.”

Ancelotti would arguably be a fantastic appointment, despite Collymore’s reservations. He has enjoyed success throughout his managerial career.
Everton clearly have the potential to contend for some honours if they get back on track. And Ancelotti will know better than most what will get them across the line when they do contend for silverware.
Gallardo would arguably be an exciting appointment. It may be a risk given that he is yet to manage outside South America. But his track record hints that it could be an inspired gamble.
