Spurs urged to set their sights on 53-year-old who can spearhead a ‘rebirth’ at N17
Tottenham Hotspur have been urged by legendary Italian commentator Francesco Repice to move for Massimiliano Allegri, a coach who can spearhead a “rebirth” at a club.
Spurs are currently on the lookout for a new manager, having sacked Jose Mourinho two weeks ago and installed Ryan Mason as interim manager.
When a club of Tottenham’s stature has a managerial vacancy, it will invariably be linked with some of the top coaches in the world.
A number of names – Julian Nagelsmann and Erik ten Hag, for example – appear to have dropped out of the race, but plenty of high-calibre coaches remain linked with the role.
Last week, the claimed that Massimiliano Allegri “would consider an approach” from Spurs.
The 53-year-old is a manager with an amazing CV, having won six Serie A titles – five with Juventus and one with AC Milan.
He also has four Italian Cups, three Italian Supercups, and a Serie C1 title he won with Sassuolo in his early management days.
And Repice told that the former Bianconeri boss needs to be on Tottenham’s shortlist.
“Any club with common sense would set their sights on him”, he said. “Watch out for Spurs both for him and for (Maurizio) Sarri.
“But any great club that wants the rebirth of their team, there’s only one name to consider – Massimiliano Allegri.”
TBR View:
Allegri would be a great shout for Spurs, a manager who’s won plenty of trophies and is highly esteemed by many of his peers.
Given all he’s achieved, his versatility in terms of formations and his style of coaching, he’d certainly be an exciting appointment for the Tottenham fanbase.
