Spurs urged to consider manager who Pochettino deemed ‘one of the best’ in 2010s, he’s a free agent

Spurs remain in pursuit of a new manager ahead of the new Premier League season.

Tottenham sacked Jose Mourinho in April and, two months on, still haven’t landed a permanent replacement.

A multitude of managers have been linked with the Spurs reins, and two apparently came close to signing up.

Both Antonio Conte and Paulo Fonseca were apparently closing in on the Tottenham job, but talks fell through.

Now, Spurs are apparently talking to Nuno Espirito Santo, .

The outlet also claims that Graham Potter and Steven Gerrard remain in contention.

Pundits have also been talking about the Tottenham manager search.

On Friday, talkSPORT pundit Ray Parlour threw a name in the hat – that of Rafael Benitez.

“Would Spurs try to get Rafael Benitez?” he said ().

“They would probably give Rafael Benitez more money to spend.”

Spurs manager search: Could Levy swoop for Everton-linked boss?

Benitez is a coach of the highest calibre with a thoroughly impressive CV.

He has managed at Real Madrid and won trophies at Valencia, Liverpool, Inter Milan, Chelsea, Napoli and Newcastle United.

Benitez is reportedly closing in on the Everton job, but some Toffees fans aren’t happy about this.

Pochettino praise: “He has my full respect”

Former Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino praised Benitez back in 2013 amid criticism at Chelsea.

“I have a lot of sympathy [for Benitez’s position],” the quotes Pochettino as saying.

“I fully recognise the job that he has done.

“For me he is one of the best managers in the world and he has my full respect for what he has achieved in football.”
