The 23-year-old initially struggled to impress following his move. But he really grew as the campaign went on.

Ultimately, his form earned him a spot in the provisional England squad. And it appeared that he may be offered the chance to remain in the Premier League next year.

It was reported during the week that Tottenham Hotspur and Wolves want the goalkeeper. There are doubts over the futures of Hugo Lloris and Rui Patricio.

However, it appears that neither will be able to get a deal done during the coming months.

, Ramsdale is set to tell Sheffield United that he wants to stay despite interest.

The report adds that the Blades hierarchy believe that Ramsdale could command a fee of £40 million.

So surely, that puts two insurmountable hurdles in the way of a potential move for his admirers.

Spurs may benefit a lot more from holding off Ramsdale move until next summer transfer window

on Spurs’ interest in Ramsdale noted that the Englishman is deemed to be a potential replacement for Lloris.

The Frenchman’s contract expires next summer. So it makes sense that they may look for a successor.

Having said that, it surely now makes even more sense to hold off a potential move until next year.

Of course, losing Lloris for nothing is not ideal. But they can hardly expect a large fee should he leave in this window.

And given that he was one of their better players in the final weeks of this past season, holding onto Lloris until next year could be a shrewd move.

Should Sheffield United fail to get promoted, the Blades surely stand no chance of asking for £40 million for Ramsdale.
