Spurs set for return of ‘fantastic’ player from injury, he thinks he could surprise some people
Spurs defender Japhet Tanganga has provided an update on his fitness.
The 22-year-old defender was one of Tottenham’s success stories during a difficult 2019-20 campaign.
He made his first-team breakthrough at Spurs and looked like he could become a future regular.
Tanganga debuted in the League Cup defeat to Colchester before making his Premier League bow against Liverpool in January 2020.

Sadly, he struggled with injuries last term, making the same number of Premier League appearances as he did in 2019-20.
Tanganga endured a tough end to the season, suffering an ankle ligament injury in the penultimate game of 2020-21.
In the off-season, he has been reporting in to Hotspur Way at regular intervals to work on his recovery.
Speaking to the Spurs , Tanganga says he feels good and hopes he can surprise people by coming back sooner than expected.
“I feel good,” he said.
“I feel like I’m not far away and I believe I’ll be back sooner than perhaps some people think.
I’m on the pitch doing my running, getting fitter and hopefully I’ll be back soon.
Obviously you sacrifice holidays to stay here and just get ready so I haven’t really had an opportunity to get away anywhere.
“But it’s fine because I’m hoping it’s going to be a big season for myself compared to how it went last year.
“I want to stay fit and just play as many games as I possibly can.”

Spurs have a “fantastic” player
Tanganga is a high-calibre talent who looks like he has a great future ahead of him.
After his Premier League debut against Liverpool, Mourinho told he did “amazingly” and was “fantastic”.
Tanganga will hopefully be back to his best next season and help lead Spurs back up the table.
