Spurs predicted lineup vs Southampton: Winks, Dele and Bale start
Ryan Mason and Chris Powell’s first Tottenham Hotspur team selection is going to be fascinating one following the news that Jose Mourinho has been sacked.
Spurs, of course, have a Carabao Cup final ahead this weekend. But ahead of that, Tottenham face Southampton in the first game of the post-Mourinho era.
The trip to Wembley is likely to influence the side Mason picks for Wednesday and the clash with the Saints – particularly with Harry Kane limping out of Friday’s draw with Everton.

There will surely be a number of changes made from the side that played at Goodison Park. In fact, we have very tentatively predicted that Mason and Powell could make six.
The most notable change is likely to come up front. Even if Kane is fit, there is surely no way that he will be risked against Ralph Hasenhuttl’s side.
And if he is a doubt for Sunday, Spurs would be wise to also rest Son Heung-min. That may mean Gareth Bale gets a surprise start up front against his old club.

Meanwhile, Dele Alli returns to the starting lineup. Dele looks set to be one of the biggest winners of Mourinho’s departure.
Steven Bergwijn is another who may benefit from the Portuguese leaving. And he may also start with surely unlikely to be in the XI at Wembley.
On the other flank, Erik Lamela could come in. Elsewhere, Harry Winks may get a chance alongside Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg.
The only change in defence sees Japhet Tanganga replace Serge Aurier. There is little need to take a risk on Aurier with Matt Doherty currently injured.
It is a tough challenge for Mason and Powell. Ideally, they would be able to rest all of their key players for the weekend.
But with Tottenham needing a strong finish to the league campaign – if next season’s Champions League matters to them – they still need to name a strong enough lineup against the Saints.
With that in mind, here is how Spurs may look for their next game…
