Spurs loanee Harvey White lauded as a coach’s dream

Portsmouth boss Danny Cowley has lauded Harvey White as a coach’s dream, insisting that the Tottenham Hotspur starlet is going to be a good player – .

It has been a turbulent season for White, who made his first-team debut for Spurs earlier in the campaign.

He left North London for Fratton Park during the January transfer window. And while he has appeared 18 times in League One, he has not been able to hold down a starting spot with Pompey.

He has however, been more impressive of late. And Cowley – who was appointed last month – believes that he is destined for a very good career.

“Harvey is going to be a good player and got real maturity beyond his years,” .

“He’s a really intelligent footballer. He watches loads of football, understands it and gets it.

“You only have to tell him an instruction once. He’s like a sponge and you’ll tell him something once and then he’ll be doing it. He’s so easy to coach, a coach’s dream.”

White arguably has the perfect role model to look up to upon his return to Tottenham. Harry Kane knows exactly what it is like for a loan spell to not exactly go to plan.

The 19-year-old would have surely hoped to have played a lot more. He has only completed 90 minutes on three occasions.

Of course, there may be some uncertainty surrounding his future at Spurs. It was Jose Mourinho who handed him his debut, and he is no longer at the club.

But having figures such as Ryan Mason and Ledley King around in prominent roles will only help someone like White.

It may prove too soon for the teenager to find himself in the first-team fold at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. But Cowley is clearly optimistic that his future is incredibly bright nonetheless.
