‘Spurs have hopes for this lad’… Journalist reacts as 18-year-old Tottenham wonderkid breaks record
Will Lankshear made history at Tottenham today – and some insight regarding what those at Spurs think of him came to light in the aftermath.
It was Alasdair Gold of Football London who provided the information.
So, what is the latest on Will Lankshear at Tottenham? Let’s take a look…
Will Lankshear makes Tottenham history
Well, the 18-year-old was on fire today in N17.
Lankshear scored a hat trick in just ten minutes as Tottenham hammered Fleetwood Town in the Premier League Cup by a 6-0 scoreline.
It means the teenager has now scored the quickest hat trick ever seen at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, and Spurs apparently have very high hopes for the England U19 international.
Gold on X: “It’s a hat trick for Will Lankshear, the fastest ever at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. It’s Donley again who plays a lovely through ball and the striker chips a delightful effort over the keeper. Spurs have hopes for this lad and you can see why.”

The forward from Welwyn Garden City has now scored goals in just 14 appearances so far this season – while also providing two assists.
Tottenham could embarrass Arsenal again
Everybody knows the story of Arsenal releasing Harry Kane – only for him to end up becoming a superstar at Tottenham.
Now, lightning could strike twice.
Arsenal actually released Lankshear back in 2021 – with Spurs eventually spending to pinch the precocious striker from Sheffield United in 2022.

Therefore, if the Tottenham No.62 – who has already made his senior debut – ends up blossoming into a star at Spurs like Kane, it would be even sweeter given the fact Arsenal let him go.
