Spurs fans want Daniel Podence signed after superb Wolves display

A number of Tottenham Hotspur fans have taken to Twitter to laud Daniel Podence’s performance in Wolvesvictory on Tuesday with some insisting that he is exactly the kind of player Jose Mourinho should look to add to his squad.

Nuno Espirito Santo’s men got back to winning ways this week. They came from behind to beat Chelsea 2-1 at Molineux.

And it was Podence who inspired the turnaround. His superb skill and finish gave Wolves their equaliser midway through the second-half.

It was the 25-year-old’s third goal of the campaign. And they have all come in victories, with his previous effort proving to be the winner on their trip to Arsenal.

Podence looks to have taken his game to another level this season. It was always clear that he had the pace and trickery to really hurt opponents.

But he is now backing that up with goals and assists. Pedro Neto is his only teammate to have had a direct hand in more Premier League goals this season.

And his latest display has prompted plenty of Spurs to laud him on social media. Some hope that he comes onto their radar at some stage in the future.

Tottenham are flying right now. They go into Wednesday’s clash with Liverpool top of the Premier League. And they are also through to the knockout stages of the Europa League.

What has been remarkable about their season is that Mourinho has hardly needed to turn to the likes of Lucas Moura, Dele Alli or Gareth Bale. The trio have made just six league starts between them.

And yet, some Spurs fans clearly feel that signing someone such as Podence would improve their squad further.

The Portuguese is capable of playing anywhere across the attack. He has predominantly played in the number 10 role for Nuno’s side this season.

But he can also play up front, or on either flank.

Of course, Podence is unlikely to come cheap. , Wolves paid £16.6 million to sign him from Olympiakos at the start of this year.

They are likely to demand a fee that sees them make a significant profit should another club come calling in one of the future windows.

Spurs know how dangerous Podence can be. He scored against Tottenham in the Champions League a few months before his arrival in England.

The opening months of this campaign suggest that the forward is getting better and better. He looks to be establishing himself as the side’s talisman while Wolves are without Raul Jimenez.

And following his display against Chelsea this week, plenty of Tottenham fans have taken to social media to laud his goal as well as his overall contribution.

Spurs, of course, surprised many by signing Matt Doherty from Wolves during the summer. And it would appear that several supporters hope that there may be scope to repeat the trick at some stage in the future with the versatile attacker.

With that in mind, here is what some of the fans were saying about Podence following Tuesday’s win for Wolves/p>
