Spurs fans react to Ebere Eze’s display in Crystal Palace win

A number of Tottenham Hotspur fans have taken to Twitter to comment on Ebere Eze after the youngster produced another outstanding display in Crystal Palace’s latest win.

Eze has enjoyed a superb first year in the Premier League. The 22-year-old has scored four goals and contributed six assists for the Eagles and he is regularly proving to be one of the most exciting talents in the top flight.

Tottenham however, are unlikely to be at all surprised by his form. Spurs were one of several clubs linked with the attacking midfielder before his switch to Selhurst Park.

In fact, that Tottenham were the favourites to secure a £20 million deal. It was suggested that both Mauricio Pochettino and Jose Mourinho were admirers of the then-Queens Park Rangers sensation.

Ultimately, it was Palace who won the race for his signature. that the likes of Fulham, West Ham and Newcastle were amongst those to miss out.

And it seems highly likely that many of those are now kicking themselves. Plenty of Spurs fans seem to be miffed by the decision to not do everything they could to sign Eze.

He is the kind of player who can excite supporters in an instant. He has an ability to cover ground rapidly and yet look like he is barely out of second gear. And there seems to be next to no chance of getting the ball off of him when he is in full flow.

His latest masterclass came on Sunday as Palace beat Aston Villa 3-2. He provided two assists as Roy Hodgson’s men came from 2-1 down to secure the three points.

He also hit the crossbar with a thunderous effort from outside the box.

, no Palace player completed a greater number of successful passes than Eze. He also managed a couple of key passes and went on two successful dribbles.

Eze is certainly finding his feet at the highest level. And it is scary to think about how good he could become in the coming years – particularly if Palace can make some exciting additions over the coming months.

For Tottenham supporters, his progress is proving difficult to watch. Many cannot quite understand how Spurs allowed Eze to head elsewhere.

Of course, Tottenham may have done all they could. But surely there was scope for Spurs to make QPR a higher bid and potentially blow the competition out of the water.

Several fans believe Eze could have been an amazing addition to the frightening attacking options Tottenham already have. There are certainly few better players for him to learn from at this stage of his career.

His performances have left the supporters baffled. They cannot believe that they seemingly deemed Eze to not be a worthwhile addition.

It is not like his form has come out of the blue. He was arguably the single most exciting player in the Championship last season. And he is certainly now making Spurs rue not taking action when they had the chance.
