Spurs fans react on Twitter to Toby Alderweireld reports

A number of Tottenham Hotspur fans have taken to Twitter to express their disbelief on Toby Alderweireld.

Alderweireld missed Sunday’s trip to Newcastle. And Jose Mourinho suggested following the 2-2 draw that he had returned to training too late following the international break.

However, it appears that Alderweireld may have been available. , sources at the club have disputed Mourinho’s claim.

The report suggests that the Belgian was back at the club on Wednesday. It is claimed that Alderweireld – who earns £80,000-a-week, – trained with the squad on Thursday, Friday and Saturday.

If that report is correct, it is incredibly surprising that Alderweireld played no part at the weekend. And more worryingly, it is difficult to understand why Mourinho has claimed something different.

For many supporters, the report has made Mourinho’s actions seem baffling. And they are concerned about what the future holds with something not quite right in North London.

Of course, we are not privy to everything going on behind the scenes. But several of the performances on the pitch have been underwhelming in recent months.

And with reports emerging disputing claims made by the manager, it really feels like something is going to have to give at some stage.
