Spurs fans react on Twitter to Steven Bergwijn’s display
A number of Tottenham Hotspur fans have taken to Twitter to comment on Steven Bergwijn’s performance as Spurs started the new year with a superb win on Saturday.
Jose Mourinho’s side beat Leeds United 3-0 at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. Harry Kane, Son Heung-min and Toby Alderweireld scored for the home side.

Bergwijn was not able to get on the scoresheet. But he seemed to make a major impression amongst many supporters.
Admittedly, he did come in for some criticism for not scoring. He had a fantastic chance during the first-half, but he sent his effort high and wide after a brilliant turn.

He was also denied by an excellent save from Illan Meslier after the break. But many felt that slating his performance would be incredibly unfair.
It was Bergwijn who won the penalty that allowed Tottenham to break the deadlock. He caused all sorts of problems for the Leeds defenders with his running and energy.
Plenty of supporters have taken to social media to laud Bergwijn’s performance. They felt that Spurs looked a lot more dangerous with the Dutchman – who earns around £73,000-a-week, – as part of the front three.
And many are adamant that the goals will come for him. Some even made comparisons between Bergwijn’s current form and the start Son made to life in North London.
Here is what some of the Spurs fans made of Bergwijn’s display…
Bergwijn has the potential to be as good as Son he just lacks the finishing and killer instinct. Remember he’s only 23

Give Bergwijn a chance, he gets into the right positions, he’ll start putting them away at some point
Even Sonny was wasteful when he first joined and he turned out pretty good

Bergwijn is such an important player for us…. Moura was pony again when he came on and just runs into things.

If Bergwijn could finish he would be insane

had a great performance today, can’t expect him to score every time especially when so many people have been on his back in recent weeks! Get behind your players and they’ll have the confidence as we all know he has the ability!

I though was fantastic today. The goals will come for this boy

Remember when we had to watch Lucas start week in week out? Bergwijn is offering so much more, the goals will come man
— Mo (@thfcmo)
Thought Bergwijn was excellent today, a goal would have topped it off. Brings so much energy.
